Why International Women's Day is so special to me

The date is 8th March 2018 and as I write this blog I am reflecting on an incredible career in support of local Manufacturing.  I started Recycling Management many years ago in the hope that I could bring waste management and scrap collections to the Midlands while challenging the conventions that a woman had no place in this industry.

I won't lie, it's been a challenging career at times and being a woman has certainly closed as many doors as it has opened them, but throughout I've been humbled by the strong and independent woman that I've had the privilege to work with across the years.  It takes a certain type of person to work in the scrap metal trade, not everybody is cut out for the pace and daily stresses, but those women that chose this as a career are beyond strong and they deserve every bit of respect I give them.

I really couldn't have done this without the support of my loyal customer base and to those companies I say thank you.

So, on this International Women's Day, I think back across the years and I am extremely proud of my own accomplishments and the sacrifices I've had to make to be a successful business woman and a mother to three amazing children.  In fact, my beautiful daughter Ellen is currently forging her way through University and into a successful career as a businesswoman helping to lead the next generation of strong working women.

Here's to my daughter and here's to all the ladies!
