Would you abseil 200ft for charity? We did!

The day finally arrived, nerves were abundant but everybody knew that we were there to support a fantastic charity...

Last Sunday the Team at RML abseiled down the 200ft front of the Holiday Inn in Birmingham!  We supported the event in aid of Parkinson's UK, a fantastic charity that works hard to find a cure.  Everybody put on a brave face as they approached the edge of the building, but none more than our M.D. Yvonne Manders.  Legitimately terrified of heights, Yvonne grasped the opportunity (and rope) with both hands and with a shout of 'GERONIMO!' she was away...

We caught up with Yvonne to discuss her involvement with the charity and why RML felt it was such a good cause to support, here's what she had to say...

'I was approached by the Regional Fundraiser for Birmingham & the Black Country, Gayle Kelly to possibly sponsor an event or even take part if the time became available.  Well, I jumped at the chance to do my part and once word got around that the event was an abseil there was no turning back, I simply had to give it a go!  We had a lot of brave staff join me, along with my equally foolhardy and wonderful children Tom, Joe and Ellen.  The day itself was brilliant fun and although I was very nervous there was a brilliant team from Dolomite who made me feel like I could get through the worst bits and make it to the ground safely.  All in all, a brilliant day for a brilliant charity!'.

We want to thank our amazing MIM partner MyWorkwear for being extremely generous in donating our t-shirts for the day and to photographer Chris Spittles for his incredible pictures that really captured a wonderful day.
